Branding and Visual Identity
0x Café is Cebu’s pioneering crypto-themed café, aiming to blend blockchain culture and artisanal coffee. Set in a Japandi-inspired space — a fusion of Japanese minimalism and Scandinavian warmth — the café offers both specialty brews and comfort food in a modern, welcoming environment.
The client envisioned a brand identity that could express the bold, niche appeal of cryptocurrency while still maintaining the café concept. The challenge was clear: how to integrate crypto and coffee.
The brief presented a unique creative challenge: represent the crypto world and the warm café-appropriate atmosphere, and also stand out visually without overwhelming customers with tech references.
The Process
Our solution was to merge visual cues from both the digital and physical worlds. The final logo was inspired by: bitmaps and pixels – representing crypto and coffee beans – a nod to the café’s core offering. The logo takes on an 8-bit digital texture, referencing early computer aesthetics without veering into a cliché sci-fi look. We intentionally avoided hyper-futuristic and robitic visuals to keep the brand approachable.
We selected and modified a clean sans serif typeface, customizing select characters to reflect digital interfaces. The goal was to strike a balance between modernity and warmth — readable, versatile, and stylish.
To extend the visual identity, we created a series of customized icons and graphic elements used across the café’s menu boards, signages, packaging, and more. Each icon followed the same 8-bit style — quirky, fun, and distinctly digital — but carefully simplified to keep the user experience clean and uncluttered. These helped tie in the crypto theme with day-to-day café rituals.
The Outcome
The resulting brand identity delivered a fresh take on crypto culture — one that celebrates its roots in digital rebellion while inviting people into a cozy, analogue setting. 0x Café has quickly become a local favorite for both tech enthusiasts and coffee lovers, serving as a unique hub for conversation and connection.
